A student of Chicago’s Moody Bible Institute rejected a plea offer from the City of Chicago. The City had charged him for allegedly violating a Chicago noise ordinance, and the student took the case to trial. Robin Rubrecht, an associate attorney at Mauck & Baker advocated on his behalf and secured a judgment of not guilty. The student’s supposed crime: he preached the Gospel over an amplifier across the street from a Planned Parenthood near Chicago’s swanky Gold Coast. When police told him he needed a “permit” for what he was doing, he rejected their wrongful assertion and was arrested. The judge found for the student because the City failed to prove he had violated the ordinance by being excessively loud.
